Ajit Doval Meets With Russian Equivalent, Talks About Matters Of Common Concern

Moscow: On Wednesday, for their second meeting this month, Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval reviewed the state of their bilateral cooperation and spoke about significant matters of shared interest.

On the fringes of the XII International Discussion of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters in St. Petersburg, Mr. Doval had a bilateral discussion with Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the Indian Embassy in Moscow said in a post on X.

“Both sides reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed important issues of mutual interest,” said the statement.

The two parties concentrated on bilateral collaboration on a number of fronts during the discussions. Russia and India’s collaboration in the area of global and regional security was given particular attention, according to a report by the state-run TASS news agency in Russia.

The NSA had demanded that double standards be avoided in the fight against the threat after denouncing the savage terror assault that took place at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall on March 22.

When Mr. Doval met with Patrushev earlier this month in Astana during the 19th annual gathering of the security council secretaries of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), he expressed India’s support for the Russian government and people in combating terrorism in all of its guises.

During his speech at the SCO security summit in Astana, Mr. Doval said that individuals who commit acts of terrorism, especially those engaged in cross-border terrorism, should be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

Separately, Mr. Doval spoke on Wednesday at the BRICS NSAs’ luncheon meeting, which was arranged by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. He advocated for increased collaboration in the fight against terrorism as well as practical steps to stop the financing, planning, and carrying out of terrorist acts across international borders.

Additionally, Mr. Doval met one-on-one with Admiral Moe Aung of Myanmar, where they discussed the present state of affairs there as well as infrastructure projects that are supported by India.

The Indian embassy in Moscow said in another post on X that “they also discussed recent developments along the India-Myanmar border, including issues related to security, refugees, development projects, etc.”

According to the Indian Embassy, Mr. Doval also met one-on-one with Celso Amorim, the President of Brazil’s Chief Advisor, to address mutually beneficial bilateral, regional, and global concerns.
