Although well-planned, the attack on the Pakistan Air Force Base resulted in “major damage”: Original Sources

Abdul Ajiz, the commander of Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), launched the assault on Pakistan’s Air Force facility in the Mianwali district on Saturday. Local reports claim that the TJP fighters had completed their “proper homework” before to the assault.

The three already-grounded aircraft as well as a gasoline bowser were destroyed with RPG7 and sticky bombs, according to a statement released on Saturday by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Additionally, it said that three terrorists were “isolated” and that the other three were already neutralized before they could access the facility.

Later, TJP published a five-minute video in response to ISPR’s assertions that assailants were neutralized before they could do significant harm. Radar systems were also damaged by the assailants, who also attacked the oil store.

A TJP attacker said in this video that the strike destroyed about 35 planes. The identities and images of TJP’s seven attackers were also made public.

The extremists’ military fatigues are verified by the images. The images also imply that they most likely had night vision gear on them.

Sources close to Pakistan’s security establishment claim that all intelligence inputs, particularly from Afghanistan and Iran, are minimal because of the Baloch and Pashtun activity in these regions.

According to Reuters, the TJP, a recently formed military organization that is a part of the domestic Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) movement, took credit for the assault in the media.

Any effort to compromise our security will encounter resolute opposition. The country supports you and we applaud your bravery and tenacity, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said.

The strike occurs the day after several events in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan claimed the lives of at least 17 troops. Three persons were murdered and over twenty were injured when a police van was targeted by a bomb and gun assault on Friday.
