An Indian man was fined in Singapore for harassing a member of the production crew: Report

According to a media source on Tuesday, a 42-year-old singer of Indian descent was fined 3,000 Singaporean dollars for harassing a female member of the freelance production staff during a performance at the Mediacorp Campus in Singapore. Sivabalan Siva Prasad Menon, who had ingested up to 15 glasses of whiskey before to abusing the girl in 2022, was sentenced to two further crimes, including one more count of molestation, according to The Straits Times.

A gag order prevents the woman’s identity from being revealed, and court filings do not include information about the performance. In order to preserve the victim’s identity, the report did not provide the precise day when the crime was committed.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Grace Teo said in court that Sivabalan consumed up to fifteen glasses of scotch the day before the crime and got inebriated. The victim and a male companion were waiting for an elevator in the campus’s basement 1 when the play concluded at 12:20 in the morning.

The accused left the elevator as the doors opened. As the victim attempted to draw away, he approached her, took hold of her jaw, and planted a single kiss on her right cheek, according to the law enforcement official. The victim expressed her dislike of such treatment to Sivabalan. Then her companion advised Sivabalan to get out of the way by standing between them.

Before requesting the next ride, the victim and her buddy left. The two further observed that Sivabalan smelled strongly of alcohol and that he quickly departed the area. The victim broke down in tears and started to hyperventilate when they walked to a room designated for members of the production team, according to DPP Teo.

Later on that day, the victim informed the police. A perpetrator of molestation faces a maximum three-year sentence in prison, a fine, the cane, or any combination of these penalties.
