Emergency Landing Conducted by Boeing 737 After Wheel Loss During Takeoff

A 737 plane that Boeing manufactured had to make an emergency landing when a wheel came off after takeoff, adding fuel to the fire of criticism surrounding the company.
The event occurred on Sunday at Johannesburg, South Africa’s OR Tambo International Airport.

Someone on the social networking site X recorded the FlySafair plane touching down at the airport not long after it took off, and the footage showed smoke billowing from one of the wheels.

There were no reported casualties and the airplane safely landed back at OR Tambo, according to South African carrier FlySafair.

The crew was informed about the observation and the decision was made to return to Johannesburg, according to one of the airline’s spokespersons.

“FA212 adjusted course back for Johannesburg and entered a holding pattern near Parys to burn off some fuel to lighten the aircraft for landing,” the local media said.

A second plane was brought in to transport the passengers to Cape Town.
