Flights from Air India and IndiGo to Dubai may be canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions

The unexpected downpour caused disruptions to aircraft operations, with many flights being canceled or diverted. Passengers experienced annoyance as a result of the airport, shopping centers, and streets in Dubai being inundated, effectively stopping daily activities.

Due to floods at the emirate’s airport, which is among the busiest in the world, flights from India to Dubai have been severely affected.

According to PTI, Air India, which provides 72 weekly flights from several locations to Dubai, and IndiGo canceled their operations on Wednesday.

In addition to Air India, other airlines that serve Dubai, the home of a sizable Indian diaspora, including Air India Express, Vistara, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.

A representative for Air India claimed that the company was forced to cancel flights to and from Dubai on Tuesday and Wednesday owing to the negative effects of the bad weather there.

“We are doing our best to get affected passengers on their way as soon as possible by re-accommodating them on flights in the next few days.”A representative for the airline said in a statement on Wednesday that “we are also offering a one-time date change waiver to passengers with valid tickets on April 16 and 17, allowing them to reschedule their flights to future dates within the validity of the tickets.”

Ten flights from the Delhi airport to Dubai were canceled on Wednesday, according to an official. Nine scheduled flights from Dubai to the country’s capital were also canceled. It was not possible to quickly find out information regarding flights that were canceled.

“Weather-related delays and diversions have affected flight traffic to the United Arab Emirates. Among those delayed on the 16th and 17th were three or four of our flights. We apologize for the inconvenience and have provided all affected passengers with the choice of a complete refund or a free reschedule,” an Air India Express representative said in a statement on Wednesday.

IndiGo said on X on Wednesday that all flights to and from Dubai had been canceled owing to operational difficulties brought on by inclement weather and poor road conditions.

SpiceJet said in a post on X that the bad weather in Dubai is affecting flights to and from Dubai.
Vistara released no comment.

Tuesday’s unprecedentedly high temperatures in Dubai caused major disruptions to daily activities as well as floods at Dubai International Airport.
According to Airports Council International, the Dubai airport handled over 8.69 crore passengers in 2023, making it the second busiest airport in the world.
