France School Attacker Who Killed Teacher Says ISIS Inspired Him

The perpetrator of last week’s murder of a teacher in northern France was charged with crimes related to terrorism on Tuesday, according to a prosecutor, after it was discovered that he had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist organization in an audio recording before to the incident.

Due to Friday’s murder and the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, France is now on high alert in case there is any more bloodshed.

An anti-terror court accused the alleged attacker, Mohammed Moguchkov, 20, from a predominantly Muslim area of Russia, with murder connected to a terrorist plot as well as association with terrorist criminals. He was kept in detention on remand.

Prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard told reporters in Paris that Moguchkov had “sworn allegiance to the Islamic State” in a lengthy audio recording. Ricard said that further evidence had been gathered from those close to him and a video shot before to the attack.

He made a “very marginal” reference to Gaza in a video after Hamas attacked Israel, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Along with him, his 16-year-old brother was shown before the court. According to Ricard, the brother is thought to have “provided him with some support” before the 57-year-old Dominique Bernard was stabbed at the brother’s old school in Arras, which is 180 kilometers north of Paris.

According to AFP, the adolescent was charged and put in pre-trial prison.

Their cousin, who is 15 years old, was also accused. According to Ricard, he is accused of having been “informed of the plan” without taking any action to stop it. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office announced throughout the course of the night on Tuesday that he is the subject of a temporary judicial educational intervention.

The murder of Bernard occurred nearly precisely three years after the beheading of another teacher, Samuel Paty, by an Islamist fanatic from Chechnya, a region in southern Russia that borders the Ingushetia area where Moguchkov was born.

BULLET THREATS

Following the incident on Friday, France increased security and sent out 7,000 soldiers.

Since then, there have been a number of bomb threats against public institutions, including two at the Palace of Versailles, a popular tourist destination, and one at the high school in Arras.

Politicians are expressing concern about a larger danger after two Swedes were murdered in an incident in neighboring Belgium by a Tunisian who also claimed inspiration from the Islamic State organization.

“All European states are vulnerable,” French President Emmanuel Macron said to reporters on Tuesday in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

We all have a vulnerability, he said, adding that “Islamist terrorism” has resurfaced. It is a natural consequence of living in a democracy, a country where the rule of law exists but where people have the freedom to make the worst decisions at any time.

However, Macron emphasized that he had witnessed “no failures” by French security forces before to the stabbing in Arras. Macron is scheduled to attend schoolteacher Bernard’s burial on Thursday.

A proposed immigration measure is the subject of a discussion in parliament that the French government has moved forward to December, claiming that doing so would help combat terrorism.

According to the office of Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, he was thinking of adding to the law provisions that would enable any immigrant who “adheres to a jihadist ideology” to lose their status.

LOOKIN’ FOR EXPULSIONS

Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, France, which has sizable Muslim and Jewish communities, has been on high alert.

Since the attack, 102 individuals have been detained for anti-Semitic behavior or showing sympathy for terrorism, according to Darmanin’s statement on Monday.

Moguchkov, who apparently immigrated to France at the age of five, was already listed as a possible national security danger and was being watched by the DGSI, France’s domestic intelligence service.

2018 saw the deportation of his father, who was also on the list.

Macron has urged the police to search their records for radicalized individuals who may be deported.

According to his assistant, Putin instructed Darmanin to pay particular attention to young men from Russia’s Caucasus area.

On a list of dangerous radicals, the interior ministry said on Tuesday that it will strive to have 11 Russians removed.
