Hyderabadi Man Killed After Being Tricked Into Becoming a “Helper” For Russian Army

Hyderabad: One of the Indians was “duped” by agents into believing they would be hired, this guy from Hyderabad was transported to Russia and made to serve as a “helper” for the Russian Army. He passed away.

Mohammed Asfan’s death was verified by the Indian Embassy in Moscow on Wednesday. They also said that they were in contact with the man’s relatives.

“We have been informed of the untimely passing of Shri Mohammed Asfan, an Indian national. Both the family and the Russian authorities are in contact with us. The Indian embassy in Moscow said in a post on “X” that the mission will attempt to transfer his mortal remains to India.

Imran, Asfan’s older brother, told reporters that the family was notified of the 30-year-old’s death on Wednesday by the Indian embassy in Moscow.

He asked the central government to assist them in returning his brother’s body.

“We were only notified about Asfan’s passing via the call. Nothing more is known to us. It is necessary to return his body. We want his corpse to be returned to the federal government,” Imran said.

Imran claims that Asfan and two other young people from Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh traveled to Russia in November of last year after being offered work as assistants in Russian government offices by the brokers. He said that on December 31, 2023, the family had last communicated with Asfan. According to his brother, Asfan used to work at a Hyderabadi fabric store.

Imran said that the young people had been defrauded of Rs 3 lakh by each of the agents, two of whom were from Mumbai and one of whom had an office in Dubai and vlogs.

They were forced to sign a paper in Russian when they arrived in Moscow, and Imran said that later on they discovered they had been enlisted as “helpers” in the Russian army.

The young people also got in touch with the agents and told them that they were receiving training to use firearms, but the agents once again misled them by claiming it was a requirement of their employment. However, Imran said that the boys were later brought to the border between Russia and Ukraine.

Asfan’s deal was canceled, and the agents informed Imran after they had just gotten in touch with them. Imran also said that he was told that Asfan was hurt.

Asaduddin Owaisi, the party’s leader, reportedly got in touch with the Indian embassy in Moscow after Asfan’s family kept contacting him about this over the previous several days, according to AIMIM sources.

They said that Asfan’s death was also verified to Owaisi by a representative of the Indian embassy in Moscow.

The family of Mohammed Sufiyan, a young man from Narayanpet in Telangana, had also contacted Owaisi after their cousin was reportedly compelled to fight on the Russia-Ukraine border after being transported to Russia under false pretenses of employment by the agents.

On February 21, Owaisi told reporters that relatives of young Indians, some of whom were from Telangana, had come to see him and told him that their relatives had been transported to Russia under pretenses of employment by agents, only to be forced to fight on the border between Russia and Ukraine.

In order to ensure the youth’s safe return to India, Owaisi has asked the Union government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to negotiate with the Russian authorities.
