In Pakistan, a bomb attack close to a police patrol claims five lives

The most recent assault on security forces in Pakistan occurred on Friday when a bomb went off close to a police patrol in the unrest-plagued region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least five persons and injuring twenty-one more.

According to police officer Mohammad Adnan, who was cited in the Dawn newspaper, the device went off near the police patrol in Dera Ismail Khan city.

According to rescue officer Aizaz Mehmood, 21 people were injured and five people died.

It’s unknown whether any police officers were among the deceased.

Since the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan’s truce with the government collapsed in November of last year, there has been a noticeable increase in terror activity in Pakistan in recent months, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

On October 31, gunmen who were not identified opened fire on a police camp near Dera Ismail Khan, killing one police officer. In the South Waziristan area, an IED explosion claimed the lives of two troops the same day.

Up to twelve Pakistan Army troops lost their lives in separate military operations in the Balochistani districts of Zhob and Sui in July.
