Iran-Israel Conflict: Revolutionary Guards Are Labeled “Terrorists,” and Israel Wants Sanctions Regarding Iran’s Missile Program

Iran-Israel Crisis: In response to Iran’s blatant missile strike on Israel this weekend, Jerusalem launched a diplomatic offensive against the country. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that he has sent letters to thirty-two countries and talked with colleagues in dozens of friendly nations in an effort to impose sanctions on Iran’s missile programs and designate Tehran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist.”

Israel Katz said that in reaction to Iran’s unprecedented strike on Israel on Saturday, Jerusalem would launch a “diplomatic offensive” in addition to a suitable military response, whatever that may be.

The Israeli foreign minister claimed he called for sanctions to be placed on Iran’s missile program and the designation of its IRGC troops as a terrorist group in letters to 32 nations and in conversations with several other foreign ministers and prominent persons worldwide.

Katz said, “Iran must be stopped now, before it is too late.”

Israeli reservists practice battle near the border with Lebanon.
Israeli reservists finished a battle preparedness drill near the Lebanese border on Tuesday, amidst the escalating tensions with Iran. The Israel Defence Forces said that the drills featured cyber drills, a shift from regular to emergency conditions, and simultaneous combat in Syria and Lebanon.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi said on Monday that Israel will retaliate against Iran’s drone and missile assault.

“This launch of so many missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles into the territory of the State of Israel will be met with a response,” Halevi said. “We are looking ahead, we are considering our steps.”

To decide how to react, Israel’s War Cabinet convened on Monday night. As per many media sources, there is a rift inside the Cabinet about the timing and extent of Israel’s counterattack.

Israel is attacked by Iran
Iran fired more than 320 missiles and drones against Israel on Saturday night. The air forces of the US, Jordan, Britain, and France stopped most of the drones and a few cruise missiles before they could enter Israeli airspace. The remaining rockets were intercepted by Israeli air defenses.

According to the IDF, 99 percent of Iran’s drone and missile launches were intercepted, and the Arrow-3 successfully fired down ballistic missiles at a high altitude. American, Jordanian, British, and French troops shot down the majority of the drones.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces, a Bedouin girl was hurt by shrapnel that fell close to the Negev town of Arad, and the Nevatim Air Force facility in Israel suffered minor damage.

The outrageous assault by Iran was in retaliation for what was allegedly an Israeli bombing on an Iranian embassy complex in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in the deaths of seven IRGC officials, including the head of the IRGC Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

Iran had promised revenge for the attack, but Israel never acknowledged taking credit.
