Nikki Haley, the Indian American candidate, leads Donald Trump in her own state, according to a poll

According to the most recent CNN opinion poll, Indian-American politician Nikki Haley is behind Donald Trump by almost 30 percentage points in her home state of South Carolina in the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee in the following year.

53 percent of respondents in South Carolina favor the former US president, who is presently leading the Republican Party, while just 22 percent back Haley, the former governor of South Carolina.

The second Indian-American contender, 38-year-old Vivek Ramaswamy, is faring worse in the polls, lagging by almost one percentage point in South Carolina, one of the early primary states. On November 5, 2024, US presidential elections are slated to take place.

In South Carolina, 77-year-old Trump has a significantly stronger base of support than any of his competitors. Eighty-two percent of his current supporters say they will support him no matter what. According to the American broadcaster, just 42% of Haley’s 51-year-old fans and 38% of DeSantis’s followers said they are certain they won’t alter their views.

Next year, South Carolina’s primary will take place on February 24, after those of Iowa and New Hampshire. RealClearPolitics, which monitors all significant national polls, reports that Trump is supported nationally by 59% of Republicans, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis coming in second with 12.6 percent, followed by Haley (8.3 percent) and Ramaswamy (4.6 percent).
