Nirmala Sitharaman travels to Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to see a well-known Hindu temple

In Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid a visit to a well-known Hindu shrine.

Sitharaman is on a three-day visitation throughout the nation.

Her office stated on X, “Smt. @nsitharaman visits Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil in Jaffna during her three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.”

In the Jaffna District of the Northern Province, Nallur Murugan Kovil, also known as Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, is one of the most important Hindu temples.

Numerous temples with the same name have been constructed throughout Europe and North America as a cultural memorial. The temple is a socially significant institution for the Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu identity. Lord Muruga, the holy Vel, who is the son of Lord Siva and also known as Karthikeya, is the ruling god. The Chola queen Sembiyan Mahadevi gave the temple the idol of the goddess Nallur Devi in the tenth century AD.

Senior BJP leader Sitharaman, a native of Tamil Nadu, visited Trincomalee’s largest Hindu temple on Thursday.
