Not long after takeoff, a cargo jet at Miami Airport makes an emergency landing

MIAMI: Shortly after takeoff, a cargo jet had an engine failure, forcing an emergency landing at Miami International Airport, according to an airline representative.

“After experiencing an engine malfunction soon after departure,” the aircraft made a safe landing on Thursday night, according to a statement released by Atlas Air on Friday. “The crew followed all standard procedures and safely returned to MIA.”
According to the spokeswoman, Atlas will investigate to find the reason.
On the social networking site X, unverified footage appeared showing flames bursting out of the wing of an aircraft that was flying close to the airport.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the airport received messages on Friday requesting comments.
