On the eve of Passover, Biden reiterates his support for Israel

On the eve of the Jewish Passover festival, US President Joe Biden reiterated his support for Israel’s security.

Biden said on Sunday that he was “ironcladly committed” to Israel’s security, the protection of the Jewish people, and Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign Jewish state.

Monday night marks the start of the Passover festival, which honors the release of the Jews from Egyptian slavery.

After more than 1,200 Palestinians were massacred in a massacre in Israel on October 7 by Hamas and other violent Palestinian factions, the current Gaza conflict broke out.

Also, a large number of persons were kidnapped and brought from Israel to the Gaza Strip. Israel had believed that less than 100 of the 130 captives were still alive until a few weeks ago. It’s now thought, however, that a great number of them may already be dead.

In light of the fact that Passover is a narrative about liberation, Biden said that captive families are especially affected this year as they attempt to uphold the holiday’s spirit while their loved ones are still detained.

The US President went on to say that his administration was attempting to secure “an immediate and prolonged ceasefire” in Gaza so that Palestinian residents could receive humanitarian relief and captives could be released.

According to Biden, “We will keep working toward a two-state solution that offers equal security, prosperity, and enduring peace for Israelis and Palestinians.”

Thus far, negotiations spearheaded by the US, Qatar, and Egypt have not succeeded.
