London: Following a Muslim student’s appeal to her ban on prayer practices, an Indian-origin school principal—often referred to as “Britain’s strictest headmistress”—hailed a UK High Court verdict maintaining her prohibition.
In line with its mission to foster a “inclusive environment,” Katherine Birbalsingh informed the court that Michaela School, a “secular” secondary school for boys and girls in Wembley, did not permit religious prayers.
A very popular TikTok star, Stabbed Bishop
SYDNEY: Although Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, a bearded cleric, has a large following on social media and was stabbed at a church service that was live-streamed from Sydney, he is also a controversial orator. The 53-year-old, who has a sizable young fan base on TikTok, received a 2023 YouTube award for reaching one million followers. He has been the focus of internet trolling, hate speech, and criticism.
