Russia claims two are detained for plotting assaults on defense targets

Moscow: Russia said on Friday that it has arrested two individuals who were allegedly preparing assaults on military and police installations while harboring pro-Ukrainian sentiments.
Several people have been detained by Moscow since it began its invasion of Ukraine in early 2022; these individuals are mostly Russians who are suspected of working with Kyiv or planning strikes on Russian military installations.

Members of an extreme nationalist organization were among the inmates held in the southern Volgograd district, close to Ukraine, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB).

In addition, the FSB said that during a search of the suspects’ property, it had seized weapons and explosives.

According to the FSB, the unidentified suspects had intended to assault a police station, a military recruiting office, and other targets in Volzhsky. They had also made ties with nationalists in Ukraine.
According to their statement, the inmates intended to strike public spaces as well.
