2 Dead and 5 Injured in Fatal Shooting Near White House, According to Reports

CNN, quoting the police, said that a shooting occurred early on Sunday morning in Washington, DC, leaving two people dead and five wounded.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident was reported at roughly three in the morning (local time) close to the Kennedy Recreation Center, near the junction of 7th and P Street Northwest.

At a press conference, Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll of the Metropolitan Police said that all of the victims were identified as adults, that they had been taken to nearby hospitals, and that no details were available about their health, according to CNN.

It’s yet unknown who opened fire or what caused the incident, which happened a few streets northeast of the White House.

The police have not released a statement about any arrests or the identities of the case’s suspects. “We’re asking anyone who may have any information related to this incident or may have witnessed it to contact the Metropolitan Police Department,” Carroll said.

According to CNN, which cited authorities, a man suspected of murdering three people in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, earlier on Saturday was taken into custody. The 26-year-old suspect, Andre Gordon, is suspected of killing three people at two separate Pennsylvanian residences before robbing a driver and leaving for New Jersey.

Steve Wilson, the director of Trenton Police, said, “He is being held.” Nobody else sustained any injuries.” At a press conference on Saturday afternoon (local time), Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said that Gordon had shot his 13-year-old sister Kera Gordon and 52-year-old stepmother Karen Gordon at their house while operating a stolen car, according to CNN.

Three additional people in the house, Schorn said, were able to escape Gordon during the raid. Gordon shot 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, with whom he has two children with, on Edgewood Lane after the shooting. Schorn said that there were four other people inside the house, one of them was Daniel’s mother, who was hurt by Gordon and is being treated at a hospital.

According to police reports, Gordon carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Dollar General on Bristol Pike in Morrisville after the incident. The motorist was not hurt in the collision, according to the authorities.
