Security company Darktrace consents to a $5 billion acquisition

London: US private equity firm Thoma Bravo made a $5.3 billion buyout offer for cybersecurity company Darktrace on Friday, highlighting the British company’s “capability in artificial intelligence.”
The cash offer for Darktrace was made in response to Thoma Bravo’s acquisition interest two years earlier.
Thoma Bravo partner Andrew Almeida stated in a statement, “Darktrace is at the very cutting edge of cybersecurity technology, and we have long been admirers of its platform and capability in artificial intelligence.”

“The pace of innovation in cybersecurity is accelerating in response to cyber threats that are simultaneously complex, global, and sophisticated.”
Poppy Gustafsson, CEO of Darktrace, said that the company’s “technology has never been more relevant in a world increasingly threatened by AI-powered cyberattacks.”.
