Sword-wielding man in East London stabs police, arrests civilians

Following several attacks that left many individuals wounded, a guy brandishing a sword was taken into custody in Hainault, east of London, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.

The police said that it received a call just before 7:00 am (0600 GMT) about a car smashing into a residence and allegations of “stabbed people.”

According to a statement, “At this time, we understand the suspect went on to attack two police officers and other members of the public.”

“We’re waiting for an update on the injured parties’ condition.”

The Metropolitan Police Service, which oversees 1,605 square kilometers or 620 square miles, of Greater London, said that a 36-year-old male had been taken into custody there.

It does not seem that this occurrence is connected to terrorism, according to Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan.
