The judge rejected Imran’s wife’s plea for a prison transfer

Bushra Bibi filed a plea to be transferred to the high-security Adiala prison, where her husband, former prime minister Imran Khan, is being held. The case was heard by a Pakistani high court on Tuesday.

Her attorneys did not appear in court, thus the Islamabad High Court dismissed her plea. Bushra Bibi is now incarcerated in Bani Gala, the 71-year-old Khan’s residence in Islamabad. Since her conviction in the “un-Islamic nikah” case in February, Bani Gala has been converted into a sub-jail.

According to the Dawn newspaper, Bibi’s appeal to be transferred from Bani Gala to the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi was denied by the Islamabad High Court. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb questioned the absence of Bushra Bibi’s attorneys, stating, “They (the lawyers) do not want Bushra Bibi to go to jail.” If they had won this case, Bushra Bibi would have gone to (Adiala) jail.
