To stop riots from spreading across France, the French president implores parents to keep their children at home

In order to stop riots from spreading across France, French President Emmanuel Macron is pleading with parents to keep their adolescents at home and claims social media is encouraging copycat violence.

Following a second crisis conference with top ministers, Macron said on Friday that social media is “considerably” contributing to the turmoil that has been sparked by the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old.

He said that violence is being planned online and demanded that social media platforms like Snapchat and TikTok delete sensitive information. He said of teenage rioters: “We sometimes have the feeling that some of them are living in the streets the video games that have intoxicated them.”
