Ukraine has used long-range ATACMS missiles supplied by the US against Russian forces for the first time

A US official claims that, about a month after President Joe Biden made the pledge to his Ukrainian counterpart, the US has discreetly provided the longer-range ballistic missiles that Ukraine has long desired and is already using them against Russia.

The person spoke on Tuesday under the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the situation in public until a formal announcement.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and other Ukrainian officials have been pleading with the US to provide the ATACMS, or Army Tactical Missile System.

With the intention that the first public acknowledgment would occur when the missiles were fired on the battlefield, their arrival to the front lines of fighting was cloaked in secret.
