“Will Await Outcomes”: US Recognizes India’s Inquiry Into Khalistani Terrorist Pannun’s Contrived Murder Scheme

The US has applauded India’s attempts to look into a purported connection between India and an attempted assassination attempt on Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on US territory. According to news agency PTI, US Principal Deputy NSA Jonathan Finer told Delhi that responsibility for the purported plot to kill Pannun need to be determined. Finer admitted that India has set up a commission of inquiry to look into the event, according to the White House.

“Finer acknowledged India’s establishment of a committee of enquiry to investigate lethal plotting in the United States and the importance of holding accountable anyone found responsible,” the statement continues.

Finer said in a Monday public speech that the US and India have continued to have a mature relationship that allows both parties to see possibilities and resolve disagreements.

According to Matthew Miller, India publicly announced an investigation when the secretary of state brought up the matter with his foreign counterpart. They’ll wait to find out, he said.

Notably, an Indian person was prosecuted by the US last week in relation to the conspiracy to kill Khalistani rebel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Nikhil Gupta, 52, is accused of killing people for pay. According to US officials, Gupta consented to provide an assassin $100,000 to kill Pannu, who is still living in New York City.

Following the development, the Indian government received a warning from US officials. “As alleged, the defendant conspired from India to assassinate, right here in New York City, a US citizen of Indian origin who has publicly advocated for the establishment of a sovereign state for Sikhs, an ethnoreligious minority group in India,” according to a US official.

According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the claims that an Indian government official was complicit in plotting Pannun’s murder on US territory are being taken “very seriously.” He praised India’s probe into the matter as well.
