Enjoy international cuisine at Roastown Modern Grill in Kochi

As attractive as its modern interiors, Roastown Modern Grill’s outside design is as welcoming. Its cuisine, above all, has a worldwide heart. The environment is lively with people inside. Any hungry person’s spirits may be uplifted by the invigorating scent emanating from the open kitchen.

The restaurant was the idea of AG & S Group chairman and MD Joshy George, and it opened in Thrissur in 2019. This enterprise stems from his vast travels and intense gastronomic interest. The eatery launched a second location in Kochi in 2023.

Roastown’s initial idea was on providing grilled meats.

Its original name, “Roastown, the Neighbourhood Rotisserie,” referred to its mission of establishing a neighborhood center for flavorful roasts. The idea quickly changed, and the menu began to take on more nuance and character.

“Our method is choosing meals that tell a story. Chef Mohamed Siddiq explains, “We want to provide new experiences. For example, we introduced Khachapuri, a Georgian bread that was previously unknown to people.

Joshy adds, “Well, that’s the best thing about Roastown—there is something for everyone.”

For patrons, Roastown is more than simply a dining establishment; it’s a global flavor festival and gastronomic adventure.

I got to sample a well chosen lunch among a profusion of possibilities. The creamy and crisp salad was quite good. The creamy inside of the crispy-fried cottage cheese contrasted with its delightful crunch. A cool rush of taste is offered by the peppery rocket leaves, while warm herbed bread soothes the stomach. With every forkful, the palette is tantalized by the harmonic symphony of flavors that envelops this salad, which is coated with a creamy yoghurt garlic mayo.

In addition to warming your tummy, the broccoli and pine nut cream provides an alternative broccoli option for individuals who often avoid this leafy green. I soon discover Panzerotti, an Italian beginning, as a choice. This is a folded pizza that has been shallow-fried and has yoghurt, garlic, spicy tomatoes, and a veggie filling.

The following dish, gochujang beef bulgogi, sent my taste buds to Italy. I may be in a charming Italian town one moment, and then in the next mouthful, I would taste sweet and spicy Korean food.

With a dish of delicious Turkish pilaf, I quickly entered the realm of Turkiye, as the restaurant proudly proclaims. It was a mouthwatering combination of grilled chicken, fresh tomato, chilli, and tzatziki sauce.

The soft and juicy grilled chicken is served over aromatic rice and vermicelli that has been flavored with chickpeas, parsley, and mint. The tender chicken combines well with the spicy rice, cold, crisp crunch of fresh tomatoes, and zesty taste of chilli.

I moved over to a buffet of several sweets to round off this really international experience. I dove right in without waiting to learn the names of all the delicious offers. The raspberry-flavored mousse cake was airy, fluffy, and it melted in my tongue. Regarding the cheesecake, I liked its rich, thick texture and its buttery crust, which gives every mouthful a delightful crunch.

There is a large menu at the restaurant. One is spoilt for choice with food from China, Romania, Spain, England, Japan, Korea, the US, Afghanistan, and Cuba. And all I could taste was a little portion of it.

Roastown offers three live kitchens, a mixology bar, access to the chef’s studio, and a rare chance to try Flat Wok cooking in addition to this unique culinary adventure. It’s also a unique place where experiences and memories may be made.
