Four Donations You Should Make on Maha Shivaratri 2024 To Please Lord Shiva

In Hinduism, one of the most significant holidays is Maha Shivaratri. In accordance with legend, this fortunate day marked the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Maha Shivaratri is observed on March 8 this year. On this day, food and other donations are said to bring good fortune and luck into your life. Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma, a Bhopal-based astrologer and Vastu expert, spoke more about it in an interview with News18 Hindi.

1. Ghee

Applying ghee paste on the Shiva Lingam stone would satisfy Lord Shiva. In addition to the paste, you may give this to the underprivileged and needy to help you avoid issues in your life. Additionally, this may get rid of any issues or bad energy in your home.

2. Milk

On the festival of Maha Shivaratri, it is customary to perform milk Abhishekam, or to pour milk over the Shiva Lingam, in an effort to bring wealth and pleasure. According to legend, the weak moon in the birth chart may be strengthened by pouring milk over the Shiva Lingam. The devotee will have a great deal of mental tranquility as a result.

3. Sesame seeds, black

It is said that offering black sesame seeds to Lord Shiva on Maha Shivratri pleases the ancestors. This may also eliminate the Pitra Dosha, which is the bad karma of ancestors that causes problems in the life of their offspring. The beliefs state that giving away sesame seeds might also result in the accomplishment of unfinished business or obligations.

4. Clothing donations

Giving away clothing to a needy individual on Maha Shivaratri will help you get out of debt. This brings in more money for the household, pays off debt, and bestows Lord Shiva’s blessings on the devotees.

Offerings to Lord Shiva might also include goods like sugar, honey, Bel Patra, sandalwood paste, etc.

According to customs, people commemorate the day when Lord Shiva took the poison on Maha Shivratri. During Samudra Manthan, this poison was churned out of the ocean, saving the planet from darkness and horror. Lord Shiva is also known as Neelkanth (blue throat) because this poison became stored in his neck, turning it blue.
