In Bandra, Mag St. launches its third location, after Colaba and Lower Parel

On January 31, Mag St. opens its third location in Bandra, after Colaba and Lower Parel. The goal of Gauri Devidayal and Jay Yousuf’s culinary endeavor, which has opened in the suburbs, is to satisfy Mumbai residents’ need for friendly, relaxed, and cozy eating establishments.

This new member of the Mag St. family comes after the first flagship café debuted in Colaba in 2021 and the second one a year later in 2022 at One Lodha Place, Lower Parel. It now pledges to provide the same enticing combination of coziness, awareness, and community throughout the Sea Link.

It’s interesting to note that they also abandoned the name “Cafe” to become the more refined “Mag St.” Their goal is to go from being a neighborhood cafe to a full-fledged restaurant with a large bar setup and modern drink and alcohol options.

The name change from Mag St. Cafe to Mag St. is intended to symbolize the restaurant’s dedication to offering customers more than simply comfort food. This includes a carefully designed menu, a luxurious bar, and an ambiance that skillfully combines warmth and refinement.

As co-founder of Food Matters Group Gauri Devidayal states, “We’ve always recognized that we’re more than simply a café; we provide more than just coffee and sandwiches. We are thrilled to offer Lobster Rolls, Wasabi Prawns, Half-and-Half Pizzas, Curries, and more to Bandra, along with our hand-cut truffle fries. Mag St. has always focused on using food to foster a feeling of coziness and community, and we’re excited to share this philosophy with a new audience that values delicious food and drinks in their neighborhood.

The Food Matters Group, the owners of The Table—ranked No. 78 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023—Mag St. Bread Co., a bakery, Magazine St. Kitchen, an immersive MasterChef-style venue in Byculla, and Iktara, a cloud kitchen serving Indian cuisine that has already won over the hearts and palates of South Bombay residents of Mumbai, are the people behind Mag St.

“Our journey with Mag St. has been incredibly rewarding, and we wait for Bandra’s vibrant community to embrace the experience,” says Jay Yousuf, Founder of Food Matters Group. We eventually made the trip where our visitors had been pleading with us to open.

Furthermore, Mag St. Bandra will be providing the Mag St. Bread Co. products for takeout and dining in.

Regarding ambience, architect Anand Patil of Anand Patil & Associates created the restaurant interiors at Mag St. Bandra, promising a place that can easily transition from a favorite spot for morning coffee to a go-to lunch spot, cocktail hour ritual, guaranteed date spot, or dessert spot.

Every outpost has a significant amount of light, from Lower Parel’s drenching natural light to the Colaba outpost’s famous sunroof. The bar, which is the centerpiece of the Bandra restaurant, is literally made possible by both artificial and natural light. The 10-foot windows at the entryway let in natural morning light, but the evening light taper off at the spot where the bar should have been.

Another striking component placed against the walls made of washed plaster is marble. The entry is centered on a marble table, the whole left sitting area is flanked with continuous marble chairs, and the gorgeous white bar towers over the rest of the space. The wooden furniture accentuates the space’s greens and adds warmth. To adorn the area, Jay and Gauri have carefully chosen artwork from all across the globe, including pieces from artists from Argentina, Sri Lanka, and India.

Mag St. Bandra, open from 8 am to 12:30 am, will include the iconic Mag St. menu, which features creative takeout and dine-in options in addition to classics. The kitchen will be managed by Chef Nikhil Abhyankar. Whether it’s Chef Aniket Agrekar’s sourdough pizzas, Chef Shivram’s Asian curries, Chef Durgesh Singh’s specialty drinks, or the nutritious smoothie bowls and breakfast options.
