In honor of Women’s Day, TNIE presents “Wings of Change” at IIIT-Basara

Prior to International Women’s Day on March 8, The New Indian Express (TNIE) hosted a session at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technology, commonly known as IIIT-Basara, on Thursday called “Wings of Change.”

Dr. Pavani, the associate dean of the institution, spoke on the role of women in society and underscored the need of education for the advancement of rural Indian women in order for their nation to flourish. She said, “Sexual harassment, discrimination, and gender inequality affect women in every walk of life.”

During the event, Dr. Nandita Sethi, the managing director of The Entrepreneur Zone, advocated for women to pursue entrepreneurship in STEM fields, instead of sticking to the traditional “PPP” model of powder, papad, and pickle. Declaring that there will never be a level playing field and that women face a variety of psychosocial, economic, and cultural obstacles, she said that these obstacles must be transformed into opportunities and that women should make greater contributions to the organized sector, where their efforts are recognized and included in the nation’s GDP.

The director of Nova Space, Narmada, said that access to mentors is restricted due to underrepresentation, and that women in engineering face significant obstacles like as prejudice and gender bias. According to her, female engineers must be empowered by inclusive policy, mentoring, and activism in order to reach their full potential.
