In Karnal city, abandoned fountains provide a dismal image of the green belts

Fountains, which used to draw visitors to the city’s parks, have been neglected and are now a source of animosity. Fountains are broken everywhere, whether it’s Atal Park, Karna Taal, Sector 12 Fountain Park, or Mughal Canal Park.

The sad condition of the parks, according to city residents, was caused by the government’ neglect of maintenance. They said that pleas for fountain repairs had gone unanswered by the authorities. “The old Karna Taal Park has been beautifully renovated by the Karnal Municipal Corporation after concerns about inadequate maintenance were raised. The park’s essential feature that drew people in was its musical fountains, but now they’re dry and broken, giving guests a bad impression. The local resident Sanjeev Kumar said, “The government need to handle it.

Another homeowner, Munish Arya, said that while the park in Sector-12 was called “Fountain Park” because of its fountains, the fountains there are no longer operational. Even after bringing up the matter with the authorities, nothing has been done about it so far. “We ask that all of the fountains be turned on so that the park’s beauty can be restored,” Arya added.

One of the city’s largest parks, Atal Park, is located along National Highway 44. This park used to have beautiful fountains, but they are no longer in working order. These fountains were the park’s centerpiece and source of pride rather than just decorative elements. Local resident Gaurav Kamboj said that the government should prioritize bringing these fountains back to its former splendour and taking action to make them operational. The Mughal Canal Park experiences the same circumstances. Another local, Shiv Sharma, remarked, “Fountains add life to a park so they should be made operational.”

According to Dharambir, XEN, HSVP, the Atal Park fountains will be maintained as part of the Smart City initiative, and the HSVP will shortly restore the fountains in Sector 12. Actions were being made to resolve the matter, according to Monika Sharma, XEN, KMC.
