Gippy Grewal Talks About The Threats Faced By Punjabi Musicians: “Inn Cheezo Ko Taal Nahi Sakte”

Gippy Grewal recently said that criminal gangs often target Punjabi performers. He was talking about Amar Singh Chamkila and Sidhu Moosewala, who was shot and killed in Mansa, Punjab, in May 2022, and Imtiaz Ali’s just released film on them. The Carry on Jatta actor said that there are advantages and disadvantages to any career and that he is not afraid of these kinds of things.

“I am not afraid,” Dar Bilkul said. Every career has advantages and disadvantages. Anything may happen to anybody in any sector, including accidents,” Gippy told India.com.

The 41-year-old singer-actor went on to say that making music is their main responsibility and that they would keep doing it no matter what. “You can’t stop these things, but you will have to take precautions. Jo cheezen ho rahi hain aap unhe taal nahin sakte.” Ishwar ke liye paida huye hain, yahi karengi, kahin aur bhi chale jate thai to phir wapas aa jate hain. We are not born to produce music, but we will keep on making music in spite of the uncertainty and dread. Jahan aapka dil hai. We shall return, even if we abandon the field. We need to listen to our hearts),” he continued.

Gangster Dilpreet Dhahan also threatened Gippy Grewal with extortion in 2018. Dilpreet also accepted responsibility for an assault on well-known Punjabi musician Parmish Verma in April of the same year. The vocalist of “Gaal Ni Kadni” was shot many times, and one of the bullets struck his leg.

It should be mentioned that Imtiaz Ali’s portrayal of Amar Singh Chamkila is responsible for piqueing people’s interest in learning more about the horrifying 1988 murder of the Punjabi artist and his wife, Amarjot. With Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the key roles, Imtiaz’s film has garnered a resounding reception from viewers. Netflix is now offering streaming for it.

Gippy complimented the film and added, “They made the right choice by casting Diljit,” during the exchange. We would not have been able to relate to the movie if he had not been cast. The movie was created with the Punjabi audience in mind before anyone else.
