Over the last three years, the number of students enrolled in computer engineering has increased by 38%. AISHE

The Ministry of Education issued the most recent report from the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) on Thursday night, and it states that students are very passionate about computer engineering. Over the last three years, there has been a roughly 38% growth in the number of students enrolled in computer engineering programs. In 2019–20, there were 9.3 lakh admissions to computer engineering programs. In 2021–2022, it will rise to 12 lakh.

The top five engineering specialties were also identified in the survey, and they were computer, electrical, mechanical, civil, and electronic engineering, respectively. The data indicates that just two of the top five engineering specialties—computer engineering and electrical engineering—have had increases in enrolment of 38.82 percent and 1.44 percent, respectively. In addition, there was a reduction of 15.45%, 0.81%), and 3.31% in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, and civil engineering, respectively.

The greatest number of students enrolled in computer engineering in 2021–2022 was 12.9 lakh. With 6 lakh registrants, Electronics Engineering came next. In addition, 4.64 lakh students enrolled in civil engineering, 3.75 lakh in electrical engineering, and 5.74 lakh in mechanical engineering.

There are 57,18,185 students registered in the Science stream for UG, PG, MPhil, and PhD programs, with 52.1% of the students being female. Five0.8 percent of the 49,18,425 UG registrants were female. On the other hand, women made up 61.2% of the 7,52,807 nominations at the PG level. In science, 45,324 students were enrolled for PhD programs, with almost 50% of the students being female.

According to the survey, the Social Science stream has the most number of postgraduate students enrolled (10.8 lakh, with 56.6% of them being female), followed by Science and Management. There are 7.5 lakh students enrolled in the Science program overall, with 61.2 percent of the students being female. There are 7.3 lakh students enrolled in the Management stream overall, with 41.9% of those students being female.
