Perform This Ritual for Pitru Paksha 2023 if You Don’t Know Your Ancestors’ Death Date

During the yearly Pitru Paksha ritual, people give Shraddha and Tarpan to their ancestors in order to receive their blessings and find spiritual calm. A 16-day event is held to honor our forefathers. To elevate their spirits and grant them favors, certain days are seen favorable for performing these ceremonies.

Every year, the 16-day period known as Pitru Paksha begins on Bhadrapada Purnima and ends on Ashwin Amavasya. There are three important days throughout this time period when conducting Shraddha and Tarpan rituals may comfort and honor one’s ancestors.

The three days that stand out are Bharani Shraddha, Navami Shraddha, and Sarva Pitru Amavasya, also known as Amavasya Shraddha. Each date during this period has its unique importance. These days are crucial for carrying out the Shraddha and Tarpan rituals to revere one’s ancestors and ask for their blessings.

After a year, it is crucial to do Bharani Shraddha in honor of the deceased family member. The Bharani Shraddha for people who die away while still single should take place on Panchami Tithi. When someone dies, their descendants conduct Bharani Shraddha in places like Gaya and Pushkar even if they never went to pilgrimage sites. This will guarantee that their soul will rest in peace. The Bharani Nakshatra lasts till 6:24 p.m. on October 2, which is the day for conducting Bharani Shraddha this year.

Matri Shraddha, which is practiced during Pitru Paksha, is devoted to honoring one’s maternal lineage, which includes their mother and grandmother. Missing out on Pind Daan and other rites to honor the maternal ancestors on this day may anger them, which might lead to Pitra Dosh. This important day for Matri Shraddha comes on October 7 in 2023.

When you are unsure of the precise dates of your ancestors’ death or are lacking knowledge about them, Sarva Pitru Shraddha or Tarpan is a meaningful approach to honor them. Performing Pind Daan on Ashwin Amavasya is said to bring joy to all of your ancestors. It falls on October 14 this year.
