On the grounds of the New York State Assembly, Sikhs celebrated Baisakhi, or “Khalsa Sajna Divas,” under the auspices of the World Sikh Parliament.

In certain US states, the day is observed as National Sikh Day.

In addition to congratulating the World Sikh Parliament, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, a member of the New York Assembly, acknowledged the Sikh community’s concept of “Vand Chhako” (sharing what you have), acknowledged the work done by various Sikh organizations in times of need, shared 2.5 lakh meals with families during the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City and during the crisis in Ukraine, provided aid to Punjab during the 2019 floods, and organized educational programs for Sikh youth to help them connect with their language, religion, and culture.

Coordinator of the World Sikh Parliament, Himmat Singh said that the problem of transnational persecution was being discussed with the US President and the Governor, with the Assembly members’ assistance.

Additionally, the SGPC is prepared to deploy its jatha of pilgrims from its headquarters to Pakistan on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. via the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post.
