112 routes in Himachal Pradesh are blocked due to snow and rain

In Himachal Pradesh, bad weather has forced the shutdown of 112 roadways, including three national highways.

In the last 24 hours, there have been sporadic downpours in the mid and low hills, while isolated spots in the higher hills and tribal regions have seen light snowfall.

The Meteorological Centre reports that 5 cm and 2 cm of snow had been received by Shimla, Hansa, and Koksar in tribal Lahaul and Spiti, respectively.

The meteorological office said on Tuesday that among the places that had rainfall, Kothi had the most at 63 mm, followed by Chamba at 41 mm, Manali at 35 mm, Jot at 31 mm, Dalhousie at 28 mm, Keylong at 22 mm, Kasol at 19 mm, and Kangra at 17 mm.

On Friday, it issued an orange alert across the state warning of thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and strong gusts reaching 30 to 40 km/h in isolated spots. The warning is being issued as a new western disturbance is predicted to impact northwest India starting on Thursday.

With the exception of Wednesday, the weather office has also forecast a wet spell throughout the state through April 21.

Keylong recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 0.1 degree Celsius throughout the night, with no discernible variation in the minimum temperature.
