2024 Lok Sabha elections: Ashok Chavan, the former chief minister of Maharashtra, votes in Nanded

Ashok Chavan, the former chief minister of Maharashtra, cast his ballot at a Nanded polling station. Subsequently, he called on the populace to use their right to vote in big numbers.

Polling is taking place in eight of the state’s Lok Sabha constituencies: Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, Buldhana, and Parbhani, during the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“I’m pleading with everyone to cast a big vote. “Vote and contribute to the democratic process because it is essential to establishing a strong government,” Chavan said, pleading for broad participation in the political process.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Ashok Chavan remained silent after leaving the Congress party.

“I want to remain silent. The public will say whatever it is,” he said.

Chavan emphasized the adoption of a 10% quota for the Maratha community as one of the latest developments in meeting their requests.

“Everyone’s misperceptions have been cleared out, and nobody is in question. 10% of reservations are reserved for Marathas, he said.

The former chief minister of Maharashtra had earlier joined the BJP in February after leaving the Congress party and “observing the mood of the nation.”

Politics requires an understanding of the national mood. I chose to join the BJP after taking the public sentiment into consideration. I won’t remark on Congress since everything that occurs there is their karma. I hold Sonia Gandhi in high regard. I’m not very big to comment on her, and I just left the party,” Chavan remarked. In Maharashtra, the second round of voting got underway on Friday.

There are eighteen Lok Sabha constituencies in the country’s second phase of poll elections. Of these, twenty are in Kerala, fourteen in Karnataka, thirteen in Rajasthan, eight in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, five in Assam and Bihar, six in Madhya Pradesh, three in West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, and one each in Tripura, Manipur, and Jammu and Kashmir.

89 constituencies were initially slated to cast ballots today, however the Election Commission subsequently said that voting will not take place in Betul due to the passing of a candidate for the Bahujan Samaj Party.

First-phase Lok Sabha elections for 2024 took place on April 19 in 21 states and Union Territories. On May 7, the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 will take place.
