24-year-old Bihar native apprehended in Delhi for the rape and killing of a little girl

One guy has been taken into custody by Muniguda police in the Rayagada district on suspicion of raping and killing a ten-year-old girl. The accused, Harish Ram, 24, of Bihar, was apprehended on March 26 in New Delhi and taken to Muniguda on Friday.

Sources claim that on March 4, the girl—a grade IV student from Bainibasa village—went to bed with her family after supper, but her parents discovered her gone the next morning. Her father, Judhistir Kadraka, filed a complaint with Muniguda police after failing to locate her.

Her corpse was discovered on March 17 by kids who were watching goats graze in the woodland close to the settlement. Later, Kadraka recognized the corpse as belonging to his daughter.

When the police arrived, they started their investigation. Due to the body’s decomposition, the scientific team was unable to uncover any signs of harm. Nevertheless, police headed by IIC Saudamini Behera interrogated a number of villagers and also followed individuals who belonged to other areas but continued to reside in the hamlet.

Ram, who was employed by the village’s water tank and had gone missing that day, was the focus of the inquiry. Police initiated a search operation and acquired proof that Harish was present in Delhi. Soon after, a police squad raced to Delhi, where they were assisted by their counterparts to apprehend him on March 26.

Muniguda SDPO Santoshini Oram said, “He confessed to the crime and was brought to Muniguda on Friday.” The accused said that while her parents were sleeping in a different room the night of the event, the victim was watching TV at home.

He brought her to a nearby location and sexually assaulted her after calling her out on a spurious charge. He strangled her as she shouted out for assistance, then disposed of her corpse in the adjacent woodland, the SDPO said. According to the SDPO, the murder scene was reenacted on Saturday, and Harish was sent to court.
