A congressman supports Yathindra’s statement

H A Venkatesh, a former Congress politician and chairwoman of the Mysore Paints and Varnishes Limited (MPVL), has backed former MLA Yathindra Siddaramaiah, claiming that Yathindra’s recent comments against Union Home Minister Amit Shah are accurate and not disparaging.

Venkatesh criticized R Ashoka, the head of the opposition, for his unjustified demand for Yathindra’s imprisonment.

Following Yathindra’s remarks disparaging Shah, which were caught on camera and went viral, the issue broke out. Shah was called a “goonda” and “rowdy” by Yathindra, who said that the BJP leader was facing a murder allegation in Gujarat and had been banished.

During a news conference on Sunday, Venkatesh defended Yathindra’s remarks by highlighting Shah’s criminal record and his exile, arguing that these events validated Yathindra’s description of Shah as a “goonda.”

He maintained that these were true observations rather than disparaging statements. Venkatesh further chastised Ashoka for his demands for Yathindra’s arrest, accusing him of unjustly singling out the father and son of Siddaramaiah.

He threatened to interrupt Ashoka’s activities if Congress workers persisted in their targeting. Political tensions in the area have increased as a result of the dispute, with the Congress and BJP trading sharp barbs over Yathindra’s remarks. The matter is further complicated by the Election Commission’s demand for action on potential violations of the Model Code of Conduct.
