A four-year integrated teacher education program is offered by GNDU

As of this session, Guru Nanak Dev University is the only state university in north India to receive approval to begin offering all three of the Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP) for secondary stage teachers, with a 50 seat capacity in each course. The programs are called BA-B Ed, B Sc-B Ed, and B Com-B Ed.

The course was officially opened by former UGC chairman Professor Ved Prakash, according to Department of Education Head Professor Amit Kauts, after a formal visit by the secretary of the NCTE and other office-bearers for its orientation. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) on behalf of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in order to provide admission to this degree. The NCTE announced that April 30 is the deadline for online registration for the whole year. On June 12, there will be an online admission test.

According to him, NCTE adopted the course in response to NEP 2020’s recommendation that it be used to prepare instructors for the classroom. Students who complete this course will get a degree that allows them to teach in classrooms. Students will need to take the entrance exam in order to be admitted. For the academic year 2024–2025, the NTA has been tasked with administering the NCET for admission to the four-year ITEP. To apply for admission to a degree at GNDU, one must first qualify in the NCET, he said.

Those who complete this course will have a thorough grasp of teaching techniques. Upon successful completion of the course, the applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in both their subject of study and education. According to Prof. Kauts, the ITEP will save them a year since a BA and B Ed degree now need five years of study. Following this study, students would also be qualified to apply for postgraduate studies. Highly skilled instructors in both main and minor fields for school systems would be trained in this course.

Candidates who are interested must register at https://ncet.samarth.ac.in for NCET. The applicant must register on the university’s admissions site (www.gnduadmissions.org) by May 8 in order to be considered for admission to GNDU.
