A garbage dump explosion in Pathankot causes fear

This morning, people in Pathankot were alarmed by a loud “blast” that could be heard up to a kilometer away. Nothing in the region was lost in terms of life or property. Social media platforms saw the rapid release of a statement by SSP Suhail Qasim Mir advising locals “not to get alarmed.”

The explosion happened when someone lit a trash dump next to the Abrol Nagar canal bridge on fire.

People began to run about erratically, and after informing the control center, a sizable contingent of police officers was sent to the scene. Initial examinations showed that neither an Army shell nor an IED were the cause of the explosion.

According to the SSP, the Army authorities were notified and were investigating the reason.
