A train in Coimbatore struck three members of a family; suicide is suspected

On Thursday, a train near Nanjundapuram in Coimbatore killed three members of a family. Authorities believe it to be a suicide.

Residents of Chennai’s Thoraipakkam, Varalakshmi (45), Yuvaraj (16), and Janani (15) were identified as the dead. A tailor was Varalakshmi. Janani was in class 10 and Yuvaraj was in class 11.

A preliminary investigation found that the family was sad when Varalakshmi’s husband, Thatchinamoorthy, an electrician with enormous debt, vanished two months before. On March 29, nevertheless, Varalakshmi informed her family that she and the children would be visiting a shrine in Coimbatore.

Later, they reported them missing to the Chennai police station at Thoraipakkam when their families were unable to get in touch with them. The three was struck by a train between the railway stations at Podanur and Coimbatore, and they were discovered dead as a result. The loco pilot notified the authorities of Southern Railway, who promptly arrived at the scene accompanied by the Coimbatore Government Railway Police (GRP) and transferred the remains to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem examination.

After Thatchinamoorthy vanished, the three would have murdered themselves, according to the police, and taken such drastic measures. There is now more research being done.
