Phagwara: Lovjeet Nahar, a resident of Said Pur Jirri village, and his mother Bindar have been charged with rape, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy by the Shahkot police. The victim reported to police, according to investigating officer (IO) Inspector Kamlesh Kaur, that the mother and son had planned to abduct her under the guise of marriage. The woman said that after Lovejeet had repeatedly raped her, she became pregnant. A complaint has been filed under IPC Sections 506 (criminal conspiracy), 120-B (rape), and 376 (rape).
Death on the road for a biker
Phagwara: A vehicle driver has been detained by the Bilga police on suspicion of causing death by carelessness and mischief. The suspect, Soni, a resident of Mowai village within the jurisdiction of the Bilga police station, has been identified, according to investigating officer (IO) Ashwani Kumar. On April 4, Bharast Mehata, a resident of Mohalla Chaunni, Ludhiana, informed the police that his brothers, Arash Deep and Shubam Mehra, would be riding their motorcycles back home. Their two-wheeler was struck by a vehicle close to Partap Pura village. Shubam perished in the mishap. The IO said that a case had been filed against the suspect under Sections 304-A (causing death by carelessness), 279 (rash driving), 337, 338 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 427 (mischief) of the IPC.
Four are being charged with assault.
Phagwara: Four people, including a lady, have been charged with assault and committing a crime with common purpose by the Nurmahal police. The suspects have been identified as Gian Singh, a resident of Pasla village, his wife Gurden Kaur, Manjit Singh, a resident of the same village, and his brother Sarabjt Singh, according to investigating officer (IO) Jagjit Singh. The same villager, Som Lal, reported to the police that on March 19, the suspects attacked him and hurt them. According to the IO, a case had been filed against the suspects under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily inflicting pain), 325 (voluntarily causing serious hurt), and 34 (committing crime with common purpose).
