AAP complains about Sukhbir Badal to the EC

SAD president Sukhbir Badal was the target of a complaint by the AAP to the Election Commission for going beyond the ECI’s guidelines on the political campaign.

Senior AAP leader and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema filed the complaint. The AAP leader said that Badal used a youngster for his campaign during his Punjab Bachao Yatra in a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India.

According to the letter, Badal disobeyed the EC’s directives on April 6 when he forced a kid to hoist the signs “Shiromani Akali Dal Zindabad and Vote for Akali Dal” during his Punjab Bachao Yatra in Raikot. The party also turned in the videotaped documentation of the occurrence.

It went on to state that the action was against the directive of the Bombay High Court’s ruling, which emphasized the need of making sure political parties exclude minors from taking part in any election-related activities. The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, as modified by the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016, must be strictly adhered to by all political parties and candidates. However, Badal disregarded both the ECI’s guidelines and the legislation that forbids employing minors for political purposes.
