Four more candidates have been announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Three additional candidates were selected by the BJP for the election.

The AAP has declared candidates for each of Punjab’s 13 seats using the most recent lists of names. Six candidates have been nominated by the Congress as far, and seven by SAD. BJP’s current total is nine.

In Punjab, voting is expected to take place on June 1.

Three current MLAs, Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar of Ferozepur, Amansher Singh Kalsi of Gurdaspur, and Ashok Parashar Pappi of Ludhiana, were nominated by the AAP. Former SAD MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu was fielded by the party in the reserved Jalandhar seat.

In the Vidhan Sabha, Brar holds the seat for the Muktsar Assembly, while Kalsi is a Batala lawmaker. Pappi represents the Central Assembly seat of Ludhiana as an MLA.

The BJP put forth social activist Anita Som Parkash (Hoshiarpur), former SAD MLA Manjit Singh Manna Mianwind (Khadoor Sahib), and former IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu (Bathinda).

Sikander Singh Maluka, the father-in-law of Parampal, has been an Akali Dal representative for many decades. Anita is the spouse of Som Parkash, the current Hoshiarpur MP.

Mianwind is running for the Lok Sabha for the first time. On a SAD platform, he has been elected to the Khadoor Sahib Assembly in 2002 and 2007. In 2022, he joined the BJP.
