“Those Who Plant The Tree Are Forgotten”: Actor Dhamu Regarding the Re-release of Ghilli

Fans of Thalapathy Vijay were taken aback when the 2004 movie Ghilli was re-released on April 20. When it was re-released, the movie was well-received by the public and fans alike, and it made record figures on its opening day. As a result, the movie is making enormous sums of money at the box office. Twenty years after its first release, the movie—which starred Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha in the key roles—was rereleased in a few theaters.

Actor Dhamu discussed the movie, stating, “The movie Ghilli was released 20 years ago. In the movie, I portrayed Otteri. The movie is now being successfully re-released after 20 years.

People are honoring the release of the film Ghilli, which came out 20 years ago, by whistling. However, many individuals are now receiving shade from the tree that was planted 20 years ago. He said in irritation, “Have you ever whistled and celebrated those who planted the tree?”

According to reports, the movie debuted in 320 Tamil Nadu theaters and quickly gained popularity across the state. Ghilli earned Rs 4.25 crore at the state box office on its first day of sales. The movie’s earnings on Sunday, its second day, slightly decreased to Rs 3.90 crore. It is said that the movie made Rs 1.70 crore on Monday, its third day of release. For a re-release, the movie has made an extremely respectable Rs 9.85 crore in Tamil Nadu as of Monday. The movie made Rs 1.16 crore at the box office on Tuesday, bringing its total earnings in the state to Rs 10 crore.

Industry sources claim that this is the largest box office take for a movie that has been rereleased. Additionally, the distributors anticipate that this week will see a rise in the movie’s receipts. The re-release allegedly made Rs 10 crore at the global box office on its first day of release alone. Additionally, it was announced on April 22 that the global collection had surpassed Rs 15 crore.

Presently, the producers have made the decision to rerelease Kushi, another beloved picture from Vijay’s resume. Director and writer S J Suryah’s Kushi was first published in 2000. Vijay and Jyothika play the main characters in the movie. Vijayakumar, Mumtaj, Vivek, Shilpa Shetty, and several more support them. Under the Sri Surya Movies label, A M Rathnam produced the movie.
