After receiving a’misleading’ post from ‘X’ accounts belonging to Priyanka Gandhi and Kamal Nath, the Indore Police Department filed a First Information Report (FIR)

The police in Indore have said that they have filed a first information report (FIR) against the “handlers” of the ‘X’ accounts of key Congress figures, such as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Congress head Kamal Nath, and former Union minister Arun Yadav, in relation to a post that makes allegations of corruption against the BJP administration in Madhya Pradesh.

Nimesh Pathak, the local convener of the BJP’s legal cell, filed a complaint with the Indore police commissioner, who stated in a statement that was issued late Saturday night on X, previously known as Twitter, that a bogus letter carrying the identity of a person named Gyanendra Awasthi was circulating on social media. The statement was released by the Indore police commissioner. According to the letter, state contractors are being requested to pay a commission of fifty percent of their earnings.

According to the announcement, a case has been lodged against Awasthi as well as the “handlers” of the X accounts of Vadra, Nath, and Arun Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city. The report also said that an investigation into Pathak’s accusation is now underway.

An earlier report on Saturday said that a FIR had been filed against the X “handles” of Vadra, Nath, and Arun Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city. This report was made by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra. On the basis of Pathak’s allegation, the case was reportedly opened under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating) and 469 (forgery with the aim to destroy reputation).

Pathak made the accusation that the leaders of the Congress party were part of a plot to smear the reputation of the state administration as well as his own party by spreading “misleading” social media postings and suggesting that the BJP rule in the state was complicit in corrupt activities. According to the official, the investigation into the legitimacy of each X handle is now being conducted by the police.

On Friday, Vadra said in an interview with X that a union of contractors from Madhya Pradesh has submitted a petition to the Chief Justice of the High Court protesting that their payments are only issued after they pay a fee of fifty percent. Vadra said the letter expresses dissatisfaction with the current arrangement.

“The corrupt BJP administration that was in power in Karnataka used to take a forty percent commission. The BJP has succeeded in Madhya Pradesh in surpassing the level of corruption it had previously set for itself. “Now that the people of Karnataka have removed the government with a 40% commission, the people of Madhya Pradesh will do the same thing to the government with a 50% commission,” she said in the post.

There were additional postings made by Nath and Yadav that were quite similar. MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra had demanded evidence from the Congress politician to corroborate Vadra’s accusation, despite the fact that he had previously dismissed it as untrue and warned that the state government and the BJP would have recourse to legal action in the event that they did not get it.

According to statements made by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the opposition party is propagating misinformation. In relation to Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, the Gwalior police opened an investigation into a few individuals on Friday evening and lodged a complaint against them.
