Armish Asija, a 23-year-old Fazilka female, was the district’s first IAF flying officer

Being the first Flying Officer from the district and leading her company contingent at the 58th passing-out parade of commissioning ceremony conducted in Pune today, Armish Asija, a native of Fazilka, has brought honors to the town.

Her incredible journey from Fazilka to Pune’s Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a testament to her perseverance, intellectual prowess, and love of her country. She is one of the IAF’s youngest heroes, having accomplished this achievement at the age of 23.

She received her commission as a flying officer after completing her MBBS at the AFMC.

According to his uncle, Navdeep Asija of Fazilka, the Punjab Government’s expert on traffic management, just 25 ladies were chosen for the AFMC via the all-India admission test.

Armish claims that her parents, Sonika Asija, the chair of the chemistry department at Guru Jambheshwar Technical University in Hisar, and her father Mandeep Asija, an environmental engineer, gave her constant support.

The AFMC’s Director-General, Lt-Gen Daljeet Singh, served as the event’s host.
