Arrested prime suspect in robbery-murder case in Red Fort

After a short gunfight, the chief accused—who was reportedly responsible for the robbery and murder of a 36-year-old taxi driver near the Red Fort—was taken into custody, according to an official. Firoz, a Loni resident, was named as the defendant.

Three suspects in connection with the incident, Anita alias Ruksar (28), Sajid (19), and Salman (24), had already been taken into custody by the police. But Firoz was a fugitive who moved hiding places often to avoid capture.

DCP (North) MK Meena added that on Sunday, there was an altercation with the police team due to information on Firoz’s whereabouts. “He shot the police squad when they requested him to surrender. The cops took defensive action by retaliating. The defendant suffered damage to his left leg. For treatment, he was brought to Aruna Asif Ali Hospital, according to the DCP.

Following a traffic collision on April 15, a conflict between the driver of a taxi and the driver of a battery-rickshaw resulted in the shooting death of the taxi driver and the unintentional injuring of a roadside beggar by a bullet.

Along with one Luv Khush, a 15-year-old Palwal inhabitant, the victim, Muhammad Shaqib, a resident of Zakir Nagar, was taken to the LNJP hospital after his gunshot wounds.

Shaqib passed away from his wounds during treatment, while Khush was spared by medical professionals. According to the probe, at the Chatta Rail Red light, at around one in the morning, a vehicle and an e-rickshaw crashed. The rickshaw driver and the driver of the automobile got into a fight when the e-rickshaw flipped. When onlookers stepped in, three guys attacked the cabbie, took his cell phone, and picked the rickshaw driver’s pocket for cash.

Three of the attackers escaped in a scooty toward Old Delhi station, while the third one made off into the throng. After the accused were seen stealing an automobile, police started asking auto drivers for tips. One of them disclosed that the accused may have been headed to the Shastri Nagar neighborhood.
