Ashok Chavan admits it was a tough choice to join the BJP

MUMBAI: Former chief minister Ashok Chavan joined the BJP a day after leaving the Congress, attending a celebration in the city with deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and other state BJP officials.

Although it was a “difficult” choice for him to make, he said he had done so “in the interest of Maharashtra, the interest of my district, and the interest of the nation.” “It was not a one-day snap decision,” he said.I worked for the Congress for almost forty years.”
In response to claims made by Congress leaders that he had left the party despite receiving highly sought-after positions, Chavan said, “It is true that I have contributed significantly to the Congress party in addition to all that the party has given me.” For me, this is a new adventure.”
Regarding the Adarsh fraud, Chavan claims the HC ruled in his favor.
“In BJP too, I will work hard and I will not make any personal comments about Congress,” said Ashok Chavan, the former chief minister of Maharashtra.
Chavan responded, “Bombay HC has given a verdict in my favour,” following remarks made on Monday by state Congress leader Nana Patole and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray over his alleged participation in the Adarsh scandal. Actually, it was a political mishap. A few organizations have questioned the decision. I believe it’s no longer a problem since I’ve had enough.
Greeting him as a new member of the BJP, Fadnavis said that since Chavan is a national leader, the central BJP leadership would choose his future. “As the country is progressing under the leadership of PM, many leaders in the country have decided to join BJP. He (Chavan) told us he is not keen on any post in the party but wants to contribute to the growth of the country,” Fadnavis said.
Chavan had intended to join the BJP on Thursday. But the action was delayed by two days so that he could more easily submit nomination papers as a BJP contender for the Rajya Sabha elections on February 27.
To welcome Chavan, the BJP had organized a lavish celebration in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, in the Marathwada area, where the two-term chief minister has significant political influence. But Amit Shah’s absence has also resulted in the postponement of the Sambhajinagar event.
Amarnath Rajurkar, a former lawmaker and dependable aide who has joined the BJP, followed Chavan.
