Balkrishna and Ramdev Issue New “Public Apology” Following Supreme Court Rap in Patanjali Deceptive Advertising Case

On Wednesday, April 24, the co-founders of Patanjali Ayurveda, yoga guru Ramdev and Balkrishna, issued a fresh public apology in newspapers. This came a day after the Supreme Court questioned them about the correspondence between the apology and its marketing during a contempt case.

The latest public apology from Patanjali stated, “We, in our individual capacity as well as on behalf of the Company, unconditionally apologise for the non-compliance or disobedience of directions/orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in light of an ongoing matter before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.”

In addition to apologizing, Patanjali Ayurveda promised not to make the same mistake again on Tuesday. This occurred before the Supreme Court hearing on the medical company’s complaint involving the deceptive advertisements.

The Supreme Court said on Tuesday, during its hearing of the case involving deceptive ads against Patanjali Ayurveda, Baba Ramdev, and Acharya Balkrishna, that the “Union Government must wake up to this” and take decisive action.

During the case hearing, Justice Kohli said, “I want to see the actual size of the advertisement.” The court also inquired as to whether or not the apology’s magnitude corresponded with that of its marketing.

We are currently examining everything. The bench said on Tuesday, “We are looking at women, babies, and children, and the Union government needs to wake up to this. No one can be taken for granted.”

What Is the Misleading Ads Case of Patanjali?

Ramdev and Balkrishna were served with a contempt notice by the court on February 27 of this year for disseminating false information about health cures and for preventing Patanjali from endorsing goods that make unfounded claims about their ability to treat ailments including asthma and heart problems.
