BJP Claims ‘Swag Disappeared’ After Sheikh Shahjahan Is Seen “Weeping Like a Child” in a Viral Video

The head of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Amit Malviya, posted a video allegedly showing Sandeshkhali’s Sheikh Shahjahan, a powerful member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), crying “like an inconsolable child.”

The head of the BJP IT unit shared a seven-second video of “X” and captioned it, “Swag of Mamata Banerjee’s poster boy, rapist has disappeared.”

“Those who have sparked a reign of terror across Bengal, such as Saokat Mollah, Jehangir Khan, and others, will meet this destiny. When the law catches up, no one will come to their rescue. Definitely not Mamata Banerjee. Not even her ministers were safe from her. “The time is running out,” Malviya said further.

After eluding capture by both state and central authorities for more than a month, Shahjahan was apprehended in Minakhan, North 24 Parganas district, early this year on charges of sexual assault and land grab.

Mamata Banerjee’s opponents have been given ammunition by Shahjahan and the Sandeshkhali event during the Lok Sabha election season.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress lawmaker, recently criticised the TMC chairman, claiming that Shahjahan would be served biryani, pulao, and mutton by the Bengal CID. He stated that Banerjee had sent him to prison so he could recuperate.

“The CID is a slave to the Trinamool. How is Shahjahan questioned by the CID? Does a slave respond to a master? The master of them is Shahjahan. They will die if they ask him questions. Do they want to jeopardize their careers? Chowdhury enquired.

Rekha Patra, a campaigner against alleged sexual harassment of women and land-grabbing occurrences in Sandeshkhali, has been nominated by the BJP for the Basirhat Lok Sabha seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bengal earlier this month and specifically attacked Banerjee before the general election voting started. He said that the whole nation saw the Trinamool’s heroic efforts to rescue the perpetrators of the Sandeshkhali event.

However, the BJP prioritizes women’s empowerment. The leaders of Sandeshkhali would serve out the rest of their lives in prison, Prime Minister Modi said, stressing that the BJP has to be reinforced in West Bengal because only they can put an end to the injustices done to Bengali women.
