BJP criticizes the Delhi government for its odd-even program, calling it a “gimmick”

The odd-even and “Red Light On, Gaadi Off” programs launched by the AAP administration to reduce air pollution were derided by Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva on Monday as “unresearched” initiatives without any empirical evidence to back them up.

The Arvind Kejriwal administration is penalizing Delhiites for its own inability to reduce pollution by implementing the odd-even program. He added, “It would be better if the chief minister worked to make Delhi’s roads dust-free and to stop crop residue burning in Punjab instead of such gimmick.”

“There is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of either the odd-even vehicular scheme or the ongoing ‘Red Light On, Gaadi Off’ campaign,” he said.

Delhi has never seen a qualitative improvement throughout the previous years that this strategy was applied. According to him, the number of public transportation vehicles increases uncontrollably when private automobiles are off the road.

Sachdeva had already said that the Kejriwal administration was attempting to avoid taking responsibility for the “deteriorating” levels of air pollution in the nation’s capital.

In an effort to reduce air pollution in the city, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated on Monday that the odd-even system will be used from November 13 to November 20.
