BJP is criticized by AAP for its “anti-Dalit” attitude

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) harshly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday for its anti-Dalit beliefs and for continuously acting against the Constitution.

The party also chastised the LG for delaying the MCD mayoral poll at the “behest” of the BJP.

Durgesh Pathak, the AAP MLA and MCD in-charge, said during a news conference that the party was obtaining legal counsel about the LG’s decision to postpone the poll, citing the lack of CM approval for the selection of the presiding officer.

“Everything about the BJP and the LG has been revealed. Their true colors have emerged—anti-Dalit and anti-Constitution. The people of Delhi are furious, therefore, we are searching for ways to take the matter up with the highest court and make it a significant issue. The Constitution is being altered daily by the BJP. The nation’s populace is now tired of them because of this, according to Pathak.

According to AAP national spokesman Dilip Pandey, the chief minister’s approval could not be obtained since the paperwork requesting the nomination of the presiding officer was never sent to the minister of urban development.

According to Pandey, the BJP and the LG are denying a Dalit candidate the chance to run for mayor by postponing the poll and the nomination of the presiding officer.

The BJP is attempting to repeal Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s Constitution, as we have said time and time again. Ambedkar granted every person the right to vote and the ability to wield their authority, which is why we are saying this. However, the BJP seeks to impose an arbitrary norm. How will you use your right to vote if there are no elections? Pandey queried.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that Delhi was unable to elect a Dalit mayor on Friday because of the BJP’s animosity against Dalits. “The BJP planned to use the LG to push back the poll in order to prevent a Dalit contender from winning the mayoralty. It’s not the first time, however. In addition to designating ten BJP volunteers as council members last year, the LG also granted them the ability to vote. Even the Supreme Court heard the case and ruled that the candidates lacked the ability to vote. Then, against the chief minister’s suggestion, BJP council member Satya Sharma was appointed as the presiding officer. Thus, why is Delhi’s mayoral election being called off? Singh enquired.

The current standing committee elections have not taken place since the nomination of council members is still pending in court, Singh said.

The BJP council members were also chastised by MCD mayor Shelly Oberoi for playing a song in the house and dancing to it. Their cheeks were beaming with relief that there would be no elections. AAP vehemently denounces the BJP council members’ actions,” the spokesperson stated.
